Why not the others?
A. Cloud vs. on-premise: The hosting location (cloud or on-prem) is an infrastructure decision, not a key factor in whether MDM is necessary. MDM deals with data ownership, survivorship, and governance — not where systems are hosted. Cloud vs. on-prem might affect tool selection, but not the architectural need for MDM itself.
B. Salesforce replacing a legacy CRM: Replacing a legacy CRM might simplify data migration and cleanup, but it does not inherently determine the need for MDM. The question is whether Salesforce is the sole system of record or one of many. If Salesforce becomes the single master, MDM may be unnecessary regardless of the legacy system being replaced.
